If 2015 in movies was anything, it was the year of things we have seen before. You liked Jurassic Park? Here's your T-Rex. You liked Star Wars? Here's your ancestry reveal. You liked Avengers? Here's those same six guys standing back to back while fighting a giant faceless army. The one movie that really stood out should have been the most derivative of all, Matthew Vaughn's Kingsman: The Secret Service.
This James Bond parody turned out to be better than every recent JB movie besides maybe Casino Royale. Kingsman had heart. It had and edge. It was legitimately surprising. And in a year where movies like Mad Max and Star Wars are getting lots of credit (deservingly) for creating bad-ass female characters, Eggsy not only had a capable platonic partner in Roxy but a truly memorable villain in Gazelle. And best of all, they didn't just exist to fight one another.
When a lot of the other tentpole action movies started to feel the same, Kingsman stood out with a distinct style, insanely choreographed action, and a novel message: Manners Maketh Man. It all adds up to the best comic book movie of 2015 and undoubtedly the most fun Valentine's Day movie of all time.
Enjoy a scene from Nando's favorite movie of 2015, Kingsman: The Secret Service.
