Who is the Top Cop?

This week, we are putting out an APB; an Amazing Police (and FBI) Bracket to determine the Top Cop.

We got an amazing suggestion from friend of the pod Tommy for a bracket comparing various lawmen from all over media. There were quite a few.

When we started making our list, we realized that there are WAAAAYYYYYYY too many television cops and not a ton of compelling video game, anime, or comic cops so we decided to limit the bracket to law enforcement officers from films. Some characters originated on TV but as long as they made it into a movie, they were eligible.

We also decided to include FBI and other non-police law enforcement officers. Basically, if you run around with a badge and weapon, you qualify. We seeded based on the year the character appeared in their film to ensure maximum chaos. Here is the first round of match-ups.

Dick Tracy (Dick Tracy) vs Hal Jordan (Green Lantern)
Johnny Utah (Point Break) vs Frank "Mr. Orange" Newandyke (Reservoir Dogs)
Axel Foley (Beverley Hills Cop) vs Wendell "Bud" White (LA Confidential)
Larvelle Jones (Police Academyvs Sean Archer (Face/Off)
Harry Calahan (Dirty Harry) vs Chief Wiggum (The Simpsons Movie)
Frank Drebin (The Naked Gun) vs Mike Lowery (Bad Boys)
John Shaft (Shaft) vs Neville Flynn (Snakes on a Plane)
Martin Riggs (Lethal Weapon) vs Vincent Hanna (Heat)
Jim Gordon (Batman: The Movie) vs Rama (The Raid)
Clarice Starling (Silence of the Lambs) vs Max Walker (Time Cop)
Rick Deckard (Blade Runner) vs Brian O'Connor (The Fast and the Furious)
Chan "Kevin" Ka Kui (Police Story) vs Marge Gunderson (Fargo)
Frank Bullitt (Bullitt) vs Danny Butterman (Hot Fuzz)
John McClane (Die Hard) vs Judge Dredd (Judge Dredd)
Frank Serpico (Serpico) vs Billy Costigan (The Departed)
Robocop (Robocop) vs William Somerset (Se7en)

Plenty of interesting choices there. So here's where you come in. Vote on this first round on our polling page. You can look at the entire bracket here. We encourage you to share this bracket with friends or enemies of yours who love law enforcement, action movies, or Samuel L Jackson. The results of the voting will be announced on the next Mad Bracket Status show, which we stream live on our Facebook page
