In case you missed it, Game of Thrones is based off of a real thing

To some, the phrase "War of the Roses" is just the name of a weird (probably staged) morning show routine used to catch cheaters. To history buffs, it is a period of chaos where all of the English rulers were attempting to usurp each other. It matches up very closely with the early events of Game of Thrones. Here is a very colorful video explaining the similarities. Spoilers for GoT...kind of.
