Who is the Superior Sidekick?

Everyone loves a hero. They get all the love, credit, and attention but more often than not, they don't do it alone. A good hero has some help in the form of a sidekick. We want to figure out what makes a sidekick great. What is it about the supporting cast that makes the protagonist a more competent character? To figure this out, we have assembled a bracket composed of all of the best sidekick from the far reaches of pop culture. We call it the Superior Sidekick.

We took a ton of suggestions from the bracketeers and decided that there we so many good sidekicks that a 32 competitor bracket wouldn't cut it. As we started filling up a 64, we realized there were plenty of great characters that were still left out so we did the unthinkable. We have created our first ever 128 COMPETITOR BRACKET! I know, right?

The bracket is composed of four conferences. The first is sidekicks from comics. The second is Video Game/Anime. The third conference is Book/Movie. And the fourth is TV. We put a lot of thought into who should make the cut for all of the conferences and we have 32 in each. Traditionally that would be it's own entire bracket. Basically now, you get four brackets going on at once.

The seeding was relatively arbitrary, as usual. We tried to rank each conference based on popularity, influence, and competence. We think we came up with a good ranking. You are free to disagree. In fact, we engourage it. The first week of voting, starting on December 29th and ending on January 2nd will just cover the first round of the first two conferences (Comics and Video Games/Anime). The following week we will take care of the first round for the remaining conferences (Books/Movies and TV). After that we will continue as usual. This is so that you don't have to keep track of 64 match ups. Imagine the podcast for this results. It would be even more chaotic, if that is possible.

The first round of match ups is listen below broken up by conference.
